Police officials in West Palm Beach, Florida say a 37-year-old man used a cell phone and a credit card to purchase and download pornographic images of children.
The Palm Beach Post reports that Jeffrey Bowdoin was arrested Thursday after the city police investigators and members of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children task force obtained a search warrant and searched his apartment home on 4200 Community Drive after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Authorities say they discovered a black and silver LG cell phone with child pornography on it, and a credit card was found hidden in a pillowcase, located on Bowdoin’s bed.
Bowdoin admitted to police that he was the owner of the cell phone and credit card, but he stated that the images of child pornography “popped up” while he was rummaging through Tumblr.
The suspect’s LG phone, as well as other devices, underwent a forensic examination. Authorities say that “one video of child pornography” was found and the “investigation reportedly also linked Bowdoin to four additional videos containing child pornography.”
It was reported that the pornographic images of children were purportedly downloaded to Bowdoin’s cell phone between March 8 and April 28.
Bowdoin was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of five counts of possessing child pornography.
Court records indicate that Bowdoin does not have a criminal record.
Bowdoin attended a court hearing Friday where Judge Robert Panse set his bail at $175,000.
